Giving Reiki to an animal is a gentle and non-invasive form of energy healing. The practitioner places their hands on or near the animal's body to channel positive energy and promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Animals tend to be highly receptive to Reiki, and the calming and healing effects can be immediate and long-lasting. It is important to approach an animal with love and respect.

WHAT IS REIKI FOR ANIMALS?
Reiki is a complementary procedure which helps to calm an animal, and relax an animal when he/she is stressed or has emotional or physical problems or is ill. The natural intrinsic healing processes within an animal are better able to function in an animal which is more calm and relaxed and peaceful and less stressed. Reiki is complementary to treatment by a veterinary surgeon. Reiki is never a substitute for professional veterinary care and treatment.

Reiki is a hands-on procedure, carried out in a relaxed and calm manner to help the animal feel calmer and less stressed.

Each animal is an individual. Usually the animal will lay there peacefully through the session, and is relaxed, happy and contented.

Animals can suffer from many ailments, some curable and some not, some mild and some severe. Pet owners should always obtain professional examination, diagnosis and treatment by their veterinary surgeon. When an animal is more peaceful and calm through a Reiki session and beyond, then the natural internal healing processes can function better complementary to veterinary care. Reiki does not cure the incurable, but animals with serious illnesses can be less stressed and more relaxed so that they can be happier.

Reiki can also help to calm an animal when the owner is giving medicines, relax when stressed, and soothe when under veterinary care.

Kathleen explains how distant Reiki is not about sending energy somewhere else, but rather remembering that the whole universe resides inside the heart, where all is one, and so offering Reiki to one, ten, or a hundred animals at once is possible.

Actually, practicing Reiki on animals is much more time-efficient than with humans. For instance, it might take an hour for a human, but for animals, it could be 20 minutes. This is because animals don’t have as many emotional layers as humans.

Weimeraners are extremely affectionate and highly intelligent - and can also be a little high strung. While dog-sitting for this bonded pair, I turned on the camera for our daily Reiki session. Take a look and watch how quickly Reiki helps them to get calm. At one point, Shelby brings her blankie to lie down by me. No filters, no edits (except for the part where Payton knocked over the camera), just a peaceful time spent with these beautiful dogs!
